Business Development Manager
– Inbound Travel & MICE

New Imagination DMC China is one of the fastest-growing Destination Management Companies in China exclusively focused on the international inbound market.

With offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen–Hong Kong, we specialize in designing and delivering high-quality travel, MICE and luxury experiences across China for global clients.

Our capabilities span from highly customized luxury and experiential travel to large-scale conferences, incentive programs and complex event operations across China.

Whether designing an intimate cultural journey, a bespoke luxury experience, or delivering a large multi-city corporate event, we combine creativity, destination expertise and operational capability to execute projects at different scales with the same level of detail and care.

We are not a traditional DMC focused on standardized sightseeing programs. Our philosophy is to create journeys that go further into nature and deeper into culture, presenting a more meaningful and contemporary perspective of China to international travelers.

As our business continues to grow globally, we are looking for a Business Development Manager to help us expand our international client base and strengthen our presence across overseas markets.

Important Note: 

This is a China-based employment position. Candidates will be required to work from one of our offices in Shanghai, Beijing or Shenzhen–Hong Kong.

​This is not a remote working or external sales representative position.

About The Opportunity

As a Business Development Manager, your primary responsibility will be to develop new business opportunities and build long-term client relationships within the international travel and MICE industry.

You will represent New Imagination DMC China in overseas markets and act as one of the key faces of the company when communicating with agencies, corporate clients, MICE buyers and industry partners.

This role combines:

  • lead generation

  • relationship development

  • account growth

  • strategic sales support​

 

You will work closely with management, product and project teams to transform opportunities into long-term business partnerships.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Business Development & Lead Generation

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within international inbound travel and MICE markets

  • Actively approach potential clients through:

    • email outreach

    • LinkedIn

    • phone calls

    • networking

    • trade shows

    • roadshows

    • industry events

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects and potential accounts

  • Continuously follow up and nurture relationships to convert prospects into active leads and business opportunities

 

Client Relationship Development

  • Build long-term relationships with travel agencies, corporate buyers, MICE planners and industry partners

  • Understand client needs, market positioning and business objectives

  • Develop client retention and account expansion opportunities

  • Maintain regular communication with existing and potential clients to strengthen partnerships over time

 

Sales & Market Expansion

  • Support the expansion of overseas sales channels and strategic partnerships

  • Identify new markets and growth opportunities for the company

  • Assist in developing sales strategies and market approaches for different regions

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align products and services with market demand

 

Industry Representation

  • Represent the company at international trade shows, networking events and sales visits

  • Conduct presentations introducing the company’s capabilities, destination expertise and project experience

  • Build industry connections and maintain visibility within the global travel community

 

Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with product, marketing and project management teams

  • Communicate client requirements clearly to internal teams

  • Support smooth handovers from sales stage to project execution

  • Assist in developing presentations and sales materials when necessary​​​

Requirements & Competencies

  • Experience in business development, sales, account management or the travel industry preferred

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Comfortable with proactive outreach and lead development

  • Passion for travel, destination experiences and international business

  • Strong networking ability and confidence in client-facing situations

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Good understanding of sales pipeline and client development processes

  • Professional working proficiency in English

  • Additional languages are a plus
